FTP Monitoring
Service |
File Transfer
Protocol (FTP) server monitoring.
Our network monitoring service connects to the
specified FTP server on the appropriate port and
executes a handshake. Upon receiving the expected
response from the FTP server, the agent closes the
connection. If our remote monitoring agents detect a
problem in at any point in the process UnitedCare
will
receive
notification, and
the resolution process.

 |
POP3 Monitoring
Service |
Post Office Protocol
version 3 (POP3) monitoring. Our remote
network monitoring agents use a protocol similar to
checking e-mail to monitor POP3 servers UnitedCare
connects to mail server (POP3 servers) on the
appropriate port and executes a handshake. Upon
receiving the expected response from the mail
server, the agent closes the connection. For
example, when you check your e-mail your e-mail
client connects to a POP3 server using port 110. UnitedCare uses the same protocol to monitor your
POP3 servers.

SMTP Monitoring
Service |
SMTP Simple Mail
Transfer Protocol (SMTP), the Internet
protocol for electronic mail delivery. Most mail
servers today use this protocol to deliver and
receive e-mail.
Whenever you send a piece of e-mail, your e-mail
client interacts with the SMTP server to handle the
sending. The SMTP server on your host may have
conversations with other SMTP servers to actually
deliver the e-mail. Our agents monitor the SMTP
server by connecting to specified mail server and
doing an SMTP handshake. If a remote server does not
respond to a handshake or is unavailable we will
receive notification, and begin resolving the issue.

|
SMTP/POP3 Monitoring
Service |
This task allows complete
end-to-end monitoring of your Mail servers. If the SMTP or POP3
processes fail within a
specified time-out period will we receive
notification, and begin the resolution process.

DNS Monitoring
Service |
Domain name servers
(DNS) are used to translate domain names to
IP addresses. If the DNS server that supports your
organization is down, multiple internal and external service
such as local file and print and Internet mail and
web browsing may be unavailable . We test DNS servers by
querying a specified server in order to resolve a
specific internet address. If the DNS server unable
to resolve the address or unavailable the UnitedCare
notification process starts.

Connectivity Monitoring
Service |
The ping
command sends an ICMP echo request to a target name
or IP address, helping you to verify IP-level
connectivity. This is the IP equivalent of one
devices saying “hello” to another and waiting for a
return “hello”. This is useful for ensuring the
integrity of routers, firewalls and multiple
Internet appliance devices, and is an important
component of the remote network monitoring service.

|
 |
Port Monitoring
Service |
This allows us to
monitor Internet services other then listed above.
Our agents will try to connect to the server
specified on the specified port and see if the
remote computer accepts connections on this port. If
the connection is not accepted the service is
probably down and the notification process will
start.

SNMP
Monitoring Service |
SNMP is an
acronym for Simple Network Management Protocol. It
performs a function just as the name implies. For
complex devices that can not be monitored by the
basic n-central system or log events to a text file,
the vendor may implement SNMP. With additional
hardware, we can monitor any statistic the vendor
has made available for viewing.

 |
Custom Script
Monitoring Service |
This option is
used when a custom solution needs to be provided to
satisfy network monitoring requirements for a remote
system, or the protocols mentioned above cannot
deliver the needed level of monitoring. Any process
that writes events to a text log file can be
monitored using this service. This option is useful
when a customized and very specific sequence of
monitoring events and actions needs to take place.
